Professional boxer Adrien Broner was arrested on a misdemeanor sexual battery charge Monday at Lenox Square, Atlanta police said. A woman told officers she “had been inappropriately groped by a male later identified as Mr. Adrien Broner,” spokesman Donald Hannah said. Broner, 28, denied the accusation, police said, and was taken to the Fulton County jail without incident. He was released Tuesday on a $2,000 surety bond. “I didn't touch nobody,” Broner told Channel 2 Action News as he left the jail Tuesday afternoon. “She wanted to take a picture and I didn’t want to take a picture.” A Feb. 28 date is scheduled in state court for Broner, according to Fulton County sheriff’s spokeswoman Tracy Flanagan. Broner (33-3 record, 24 knockouts), nicknamed “The Problem,” has held world titles in the lightweight, junior lightweight, welterweight and junior welterweight categories, according to ESPN. He’s scheduled to headline a Showtime card April 21 in Brooklyn, N.Y., against Omar Figueroa Jr., a former world lightweight champ, in a junior welterweight championship elimination fight. Broner has had other scrapes with law enforcement, ESPN reported. One was in April 2017, when he was arrested in Covington, Ky., near his hometown of Cincinnati, on a 2014 warrant for public intoxication and disorderly conduct. When arrested, he was driving a Chevrolet Suburban with eight bullet holes, police said. He and the vehicle were linked to a shooting in Cincinnati. Broner, who was not injured, told police someone fired at the SUV after following him from a bar, ESPN reported.
